MAGNUM SOARES

(Mariana - Minas Gerais, Brazil, 1996) is a multidisciplinary artist working across contemporary dance , visual arts, and puppet theatre . She has lived in Portugal for a decade, where she trained in Dance-Theatre and develops original research focused on the fusion of body, gesture, and matter. Her practice transforms recyclable materials and unconventional resources into puppets and scenographic objects.

 

She began her studies in Fine Arts with Master Elias Layon and graduated in dance from the Mariana Ballet School. She furthered her studies in puppet theatre with Master Catin Nardi at the Navegante Company and completed the FOR DANCE THEATRE course at the Olga Roriz Company.

As a performer, she has participated in shows by Victor Hugo Pontes, Sílvia Real, Francisco Camacho, Marina Nabais, Madalena Victorino, Marta Jardim, Tiago Cadete, Guto Martins, Ricardo Campos Freire, Sara Montalvão, among others. She has also acted on television (Ouro Verde, Alma e Coração) and in music videos for artists such as Madonna, Maluma, Blaya, and Moullinex.

 

He is the creator of The Secret of Tea (2017 with Guto Martins), There is Sea and Sea (2017 with Marta Jardim), The Unknown Caravel (2020), Roots (2022), Jacaranda (2023), Stubbornly Persistent Illusion (2024, with Francisco Camacho) and Domino (2025). In parallel, he develops creative projects with communities, using dance and puppet theatre as tools for encounter, imagination and collective transformation.
